Full Job Description

Reporting to the supervisor. The role involves assisting in providing a first class service to our customers, completing a high standard of Gully cleaning to the highway network, helping to ensure that all Gully cleaning activities are delivered in accordance with the strategies and policies of the County Council and Essex Highways.

Customer skills are required to maintain the highest standards within the team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skill will be necessary to ensure that all matter are dealt with in a courteous and helpful manner and customers are made fully aware of the service and standards the Council is able to deliver.
The Role

  • Gully cleaning on carriageway defects.

  • Good knowledge and understanding Essex highway network.

  • Cleaning chambers and catchment pits.

  • Undertaking thorough vehicle inspections.

  • The use of a Gully vehicle, Demonstrable awareness of environmental aspects and impacts and waste management.

  • A current, valid driving licence is essential, with LGV Class 2 entitlement highly desirable.

  • Road marking experience using hot thermoplastic material.

  • New Roads and Street works or NHSS 12 training and qualifications would be highly beneficial.

  • Experience in the use of handheld technology (PDAs, Smartphones, etc) would be advantageous but not essential. Local knowledge of the county would be beneficial
