Full Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at an exciting new restaurant opening this summer in Gateshead.
As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen and deliver exceptional culinary experiences to our guests. This is a leadership role that requires strong culinary skills, kitchen management expertise, and the ability to supervise and motivate a team.
Duties:
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and creating menus that showcase creativity and innovation
- Oversee food preparation, ensuring high quality and consistency in taste and presentation
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient workflow
- Train and mentor junior chefs, promoting skill development and growth within the team
- Maintain food safety standards and ensure compliance with hygiene regulations
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service and timely delivery of meals
Proven experience at sous or CDP level or a similar role in a busy restaurant environment
- Strong culinary skills with a passion for creating delicious dishes
- In-depth knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety regulations, and best practices
- Excellent leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Exceptional organisational skills, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members at all levels
