Full Job Description

The Senior Cloud Engineer's primary focus is to build cloud based infrastructure that is secure, scalable, repeatable & cost-effective which enables Product value delivery to our users. The role sits at the heart of our technical operations and will lead complex infrastructure changes, define SLOs and error quotas, ensure effectiveness and reliability of our systems, and train other engineers on best practices for infrastructure management.

You'll be responsible for

  • Working closely with engineering teams to implement new pipelines, functionality, services and systems

  • Protect, optimise, and evolve our critical infrastructure

  • Mentor team and individuals around subjects such as cloud best practices, 12 factor app and AWS well architected framework

  • Ensure seamless operation and peak performance of our essential environments

  • Bringing new ideas and innovation to our tech stack

  • Simplify and streamline infrastructure provisioning and configuration

  • Utilise automation to ensure services, practices and processes are repeatable, controlled and reliable.

  • Defining and designing solutions to meet SLIs and SLOs

  • Support platform services and tooling

    Must Haves

  • At least 4-years experience building and maintaining AWS infrastructure and services

  • Ability to use programming languages to write scripts for automation

  • Experience with DevOps tooling, preferably Github and Github Actions

  • Administration of Linux servers and MySQL databases

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code, preferably Terraform

  • Experience with containerisation technologies, preferably docker

  • Experience with DNS and Networking


  • Nice to haves
  • Experience with configuration-as-code preferably Chef or Ansible

  • Exposure to security frameworks, e.g. ISO27k, CIS, NIST, CSA

  • Experience with IAM.
