Full Job Description

As a Project Manager 1 in Computacenter's Projects & Programmes Practice you will be supporting Lead Project Managers and also managing smaller/less complex assignments or workstreams on larger projects and programmes. These could be for external or internal customers. These may be stand-alone, delivered within a Project/Programme/Portfolio Management Office (PMO) aligned to a contractual service customer account or be delivered as part of the Central Project Service Desk (CPSD).

Your scope of activity can range from contributing to pre-sales, through delivery and into closure. You will need to understand and work with different commercial models (e.g. Fixed Price, Time and Materials or Resource on Demand. Your responsibilities will also include management and reporting, including the finances of the project, ensuring the agreed products are delivered, effective communication, managing project controls (including risk, issue, customer dependencies and change) building and/or supporting your team and providing a high-quality professional outcome to the satisfaction of our customers and internal stakeholders. If leading a small assignment, you'll be responsible for a services revenue value of up to £100K, this value will increase with your experience over time.


What you'll do
Your overall responsibility is for meeting the commitments made to customers and stakeholders to successfully deliver the assignment or for supporting your Lead PM in this.

  • Exposure and experience in the delivery of technology, logistic or end user adoption projects in a business environment.

  • A growth mindset that is curious, with a drive to develop and keep your skills relevant and a willingness to learn from engagements and experience, actively seeking feedback on self and team.

  • A mindset that includes putting customers first, an understanding that people matter, being straightforward, open and honest, and be someone who considers the long term.

  • Trained in Project Management, for example Prince2 (Foundation) and working towards a Practitioner qualification or equivalent, like Agile for example.

  • A demonstrable track record of delivering successful project outcomes.

  • To ideally have experience of having led a project end to end.

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships.

  • Aware of the need to be Emotionally Intelligent, to adapt personal style and approach to meet customer needs.

  • Be able to understand the Business outputs required from your assignment.

  • Skilled user of Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Project and other relevant tools.

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
