Full Job Description

As an Engineering Analyst at SCS, you would:

  • Conduct quantitative analysis of temperature measurements on engine components

  • Relate this analysis to real client engine-test data.

  • Communicate/ visualise the data with the target audience always in mind

  • Contribute to research published in academic journals and conference proceedings

  • Perform laboratory work (e.g. using optical equipment, heat-treatment facilities and wet-chemistry processes)

  • As the role progresses, you'll acquire the skills to independently manage client relationships and projects

    Excellent higher education degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or Chemistry or relevant fields

  • Rigorous data compiling, cleaning and analytical skills

  • Coding skills: proficient in Python (Numpy, Matplotlib, SciPy & Pandas libraries) or MATLAB etc.

  • Firm grasp of thermodynamics, advanced heat transfer

  • Excellent communication skills for writing, reporting and ability to present complex technical ideas and results

  • A creative problem solving mindset

  • Meticulous attention to detail


  • Desired:
  • Familiarity with SolidEdge/SolidWorks,

  • MSc/MEng or equivalent is desired, but excellent BSc/BEng university graduates are welcome to apply. We also consider

  • PhD level engineers.
  • Knowledge of laser diagnostics, phosphorescence or thermographic phosphors are advantageous

  • The remuneration is between £29K and £35K commensurate with experience.
