Cook - Care Homes

You have a passion for food, with experience in preparing and serving well-balanced meals. You have Basic Food Hygiene Training or the equivalent thereof, with desirable qualifications being a NVQ Level 2/3 in Intermediate Food Hygiene. You have strong verbal and written communication skills, with a detailed knowledge of good hygiene practices. You are experienced in maintaining records and are capable of working with minimal supervision. Familiarity with Environmental Health Legislation and Health and Safety legislation is an advantage. Ideally, you have experience working in a care home kitchen environment, and have experience working with older people. You are able to work flexible hours and can step in to cover annual leave and sickness within the home.
What The Job Involves
This cook role is based in either the Madelaine McKenna Care Home or Mill Brow Care Home. The main purpose of this role is to plan and provide nutritious meals to all residents on a daily basis while also ensuring food purchased is fresh and within budget. You will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting meals and beverages; working closely with residents to plan menus; supervising and training kitchen staff; and maintaining accurate records for audit purposes. This role involves maintaining exemplary hygiene and cleanliness standards, and compliance with all relevant Health and Safety and Environmental Health regulations in the kitchen area. Your role includes monitoring food costs and productivity, purchasing supplies, and maintaining good relationships with all residents, staff, and family members.
