Full Job Description

Purpose of the job: To provide excellent communication and CCTV skills within the QEOP Control Room only, which is responsible for supporting and managing all activity in and around the QEOP Olympic Park. To provide clear and timely communication to Security Officers, Park management and outside agencies on key incidents that may affect the Olympic Park operation, cause distress to visitors, guests, retailers and staff

Responsible to: Control Room Manager & Security Team Manager.

External relationships: Park Management, Suppliers, Contractors, Venues and members of the public.

Internal relationships: Controllers, Control Room Supervisors, Intel & Control Room Manager, Car Park Team, Ground Security staff, Security Team Managers & Senior Contracts Manager.,

  • Buildings and public space security and safety.

  • Pro actively monitoring the QEOP CCTV system.

  • Monitor and allocate officer attendance to Panic alarm activations.

  • Monitor and allocate officer attendance to fire alarm activations.

  • Monitor and manage CCTV, Radios and all systems to ensure they are fully functional at all times.

  • Monitoring and controlling access to the site.

  • Monitor and allocate officer attendance to Parking Enforcement.

  • Key Control.

  • Responding to requests of CCTV monitoring.

  • Health, safety & welfare of security team.

  • Reporting and monitoring incidents within the park.

  • Maintaining contact with Security Officers patrolling the QEOP.

  • Ensuring the security of QEOP via the CCTV and Fire Alarm systems.

  • Immediate reporting of faults with the CCTV or Fire Alarm Systems.

  • Crowd Management and providing solutions.

  • Leadership and direction to control room staff on duty to ensure all issues are dealt with correctly.

  • Ensure all incidents are logged and managed effectively through to completion.

  • Complete weekly and monthly audits on key activities and equipment within the control room.

  • Provide continued training and coaching to control room staff to enhance performance and provide job enrichment.

  • Review the performance and quality of control room staff on a monthly basis to achieve high performance standards.

  • Assist Ground supervisor managing officer positions and breaks coverage.

  • Maintain the standards of the control room for access / egress and visitor regulation.

  • Effectively handle all incoming telephone traffic into the control room.

  • Day to day management and rostering of Control room staff.

  • Overall in charge of the site and security team out of hours.

  • Any other reasonable request from the Management team.

    Relevant industry experience while not essential is preferred, although it is expected that the candidate will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the unique features of the industry including licensing, events, public space and corporate environments.

  • Ability to contribute toward a team's operation or can work on his own initiative.

  • Able to communicate effectively and clearly at all levels within the organisation.

  • Complete working knowledge of all systems.

  • A comprehensive working knowledge of all processes and procedures.

  • Experience of managing people and challenging situations.

  • A skillful negotiator who is capable of resolving issues.

  • A decisive and assertive decision maker who can interpret situations to proceed with a prioritised action plan that achieves the results required.

  • Excellent report-writing and analytical skills with attention to detail

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.

  • A positive attitude to dealing with people and taking on challenges.

  • An understanding of large mass participation events would be an advantage.

  • Full Driving Licence is desirable.

  • Valid SIA DS Licence.

  • Valid SIA CCTV Licence is desirable.
