We have a vacancy for an Assistant Clinical Trials Manager to join the successful trial management team within the PenCTU. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with clinical trials management experience to join a CTU that has retained full registration status from the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) since 2007. PenCTU has a growing portfolio of studies funded by the NIHR and other major non-commercial research funding bodies.

We are looking for a suitably experienced person, with energy and enthusiasm to grasp new opportunities and help shape the future of the PenCTU within a committed team. You will work closely with a team of trial managers, data managers, programmers, statisticians, other methodologists and clinicians to develop and manage a portfolio of clinical studies on behalf of investigators across the South West peninsula and further afield.

You must have a good working knowledge of the major regulatory frameworks governing clinical research (e.g. Research Governance Framework, ICH GCP), basic understanding of current NHS research processes and basic knowledge of research methodology, including randomised controlled trials. You should have numeracy and literacy at secondary education level with educational attainment at further education level in a relevant discipline or comparable level qualification in a clinical or related discipline (or demonstrable equivalent experience). You will write fluently, have excellent oral communication skills, be highly organised, demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and be able to prioritise his/her workload. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is essential.

We are open to applications for full or part-time hours and can support various models of remote working. Since the role includes monitoring of investigator sites, mobility to travel is essential.

The UKCRC-registered Peninsula Clinical Trials Unit (PenCTU) at the University of Plymouth provides multi-disciplinary academic support to researchers and clinicians for the design and conduct of high quality clinical trials and other well designed research studies. PenCTU has retained full registration status from the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) since 2007. The Unit comprises a close-knit and high-functioning team, fully supported in every aspect by it's host institution (the University of Plymouth)., The Faculty of Health holds four Silver Athena Swan awards, which recognise our commitment to supporting gender equality within higher education.

A successful external candidate for this position would be employed by the University of Plymouth Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Plymouth. This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis. We are open to applications for full or part-time hours and can support various models of working: fully office-based, or part office-based and part remote working.
