Full Job Description

This is an entry-level role working as a core part of our zoo department, responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day operations within the zoo department. As an Academy Keeper, you will be involved in both front and back-of-house activities, including organising deliveries, managing feed supplies, and maintaining accurate records. Your primary focus will be on upholding the highest standards of animal welfare and visitor satisfaction. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in implementing biosecurity measures to ensure the safety of our visitors, staff, and our unique animal collection., 1. Be responsible for supporting and assisting our zoo department with all their daily routines, as instructed by your mentor and training program.
2. To maintain high standards of organisational skills for deliveries, stock rotation, and record keeping.
3. Effective time management and communication with seniors.
4. To deliver against the key milestones as set out by your academy training program.
5. Have the ability to deliver memorable and informative visitor experiences.
6. Present fun and informative keeper talks.
7. Conducting animal life support checks such as electric fence testing and water testing.
8. Thorough cleaning duties across the site, including various pools.
9. Preparing all animal feeds and browse collection.
10. Assisting in general duties and requirements, as directed by Senior Management.

1. Must be able to muck in and learn quickly on the job.
2. Have self-motivation to work independently, but also embrace working as part of a large team.
3. We'd ideally like you to have completed a relevant qualification in the field of zoology and have some practical animal experience.
4. Ensuring the safety of our visitors, staff and animals is of key importance, and ensuring that health & safety protocols are followed at all times.
5. A proactive individual who will take a hands-on approach within the department with an eye for detail and presentation.
6. You must have a positive and approachable attitude, with a good work ethic.
7. You must be physically fit for the demands of this role.
8. Committed to working full-time, including weekends and bank holidays with a full driving license and car.
9. Must be able to adapt to a flexible rota.

1. Permanent contract
2. 42.5 hours per week, worked on a rota basis that includes weekends and bank holidays.
